On the 5th of September, all of the 5/6 classes walked down to Hartwell train station and caught a train into the city. When we arrived we went to South bank to eat our play lunch. When we had finished eating we got into our teams and prepared for the start of the race. In my team there was Ally, Maddy, Bianca, Nick and me. Our group leader was Dario, Ally’s dad. The aim of the race was to go around the city and answer a list of questions. One of the things that you had to do was go into Dymocks and purchase a Mr men book that well described your teacher. My team got little Miss splendid for Miss Baker. My team was the first team the first team to finish all of the questions and get to the finish line. But just because we were first didn’t mean we had won. The win you would need to have a fast time but also you would need to get most of the questions right. After we finished the race we were allowed to use our left over money to buy something for yourself. All of my group got slurpies. After we got our slurpies we walked back to Flinders street station and caught the train back to Hartwell.
About a week after the excursion all the 5/6 classes gathered together for the announcement of the first three teams. In third place was the team led by Miss Baker. They didn’t finish the race but they got most of their questions right. In second place was the team led by Josie Roker. In First place was my team. We got nearly all our questions right and were the fastest team to complete the race. For our prize we received a plastic gold medal and a chocolate.
